St. Croix to Grenada

An epic voyage around the Caribbean islands.

We’re planning on departing from St. Croix in a few months. Exact date tbd at this time. The plan is to sail north to the BVI and explore those islands before heading east and beating against the trades to St. Martin. Once in St Martin we can relax a few days before beginning to sail south.

The trades always run east to west which will give us a nice beam reach all the down to Grenada with plenty of islands to explore along the way. Key islands to explore in order:

St. Barts: Anse de Colombier: a picturesque anchorage on the north side of St. Barts

St. Kitts and Nevis: White House bay: beautiful diving and calm anchorage on the south side of St. Kitts.

Antigua: 5 islands anchorage. Beautiful anchorage in front of a 5 star resort. Plenty of amenities.

Guadeloupe: Desaies Bay: nice anchorage on the west side of Guadeloupe. Paid mooring balls and customs requirements. Might skip and go directly to Le Marigot

Martinique: Port de Plaisance du Marin: a large marina with customs service. Probably anchor on the north side of Martinique then go here by mid afternoon to give plenty of time to explore. French marina with 220v power. Might need to buy a transformer for this trip or rely on the generator.

St. Lucia: Margot Bay: apparently an incredible spot with moorings available for rent and all services available in the very well reviewed Marina. Might be a good place to stop to explore St. Lucia.

From here it’s a very nice broad reach to Grenada. Stops available in St Vincent and the numerous Grenadines on the way to Grenada.

St. Vincent: Cumberland Bay: check in with Cas and the Mojito restaurant.

Union Island: Chatham Bay: scenic anchorage with cruiser friendly resort.

All of these anchorages need to be seen as options based on the weather and local knowledge. I’m certain that we’ll learn a lot on the way and having the option to deviate is always better and can give us the opportunity to have amazing experiences.

Grenada: Clarkes Court Boat Yard and Marina: the final stop on the trip!
